GLIIHC Annual Community Health Fair Hits the Drive-Thru

The Gerald L Ignace Indian Health Center will host its 4th Annual Community Health Fair on Thursday, August 6th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. In an effort to minimize contact, the event will be held as a drive-thru in the parking lot of the Clinic, located off of 10th & Mitchell Streets. The event is free and open to the community.

Drive through attendees will have the opportunity to receive information on topics such as cancer prevention, smoking cessation, nutrition standards, preventing chronic disease and more.  In addition we will be offering the opportunity to participate in a contact-less screening for prediabetes and high blood pressure.

To help the community stay safe we will also be handing out our Safer At Home Kits that include cleaning and hygiene items, and of course a pack of re-usable masks donated by our friends at Advocate Aurora.

“During these trying times, we find it even more important to connect with our community and remind them we are here to support their health and well-being,”

Dr. Lyle Ignace

CEO and President, Gerald L. Ignace Indian Health Center

In addition, through the planned events attendees can learn important information about their health status through the assessments that will be offered. This event is sponsored in part by the CDC’s Good Health and Wellness in Indian Country grant. The focus of the grant is to reduce the rates of death and disability from commercial tobacco use, diabetes, heart disease and stroke and reduce the prevalence of obesity and other chronic diseases.

“As people have been staying away from healthcare facilities, it’s time to reassure our community that we are taking the proper precautions to make it safe for patients to seek the preventative care for health issues that continue to disproportionately affect the American Indian community when compared to other ethnic groups,”

Dr. Lyle Ignace

CEO and President, Gerald L. Ignace Indian Health Center
